Skatepark in your city - sample letters and petitions

Write a petition to the city authorities, asking them to build a skatepark and collect signatures for it. In the petition you must include:

• a description of who you are, introduce your group, write something about the sports you practice, their growing popularity and how important skateparks are for their practice,
• Your request, that is, to ask for the construction of a skatepark,
• arguments in favor of building a skatepark:
  • promotion of sports (a place for young people to practice interesting and developing sports; to draw young people away from sitting on benches, drinking and taking drugs),
  • safety (riding on the street, young people are more likely to have accidents, get hit by cars, and in the square, which is separated for riding, young people will not disturb or create danger),
  • benefits for the city (youth will not destroy city sidewalks, benches, stairs; construction of the skatepark cheaper than repairing the above-mentioned places; law enforcement services, i.e. City Guard, Police will deal with serious matters and not catching skaters; promotion of the city !!! - possibility of organizing competitions or shows attracts top riders and fans, it can also be an attraction for tourists),
• description of the broad support that you have,
• may also be useful specifics about the skatepark that you have previously agreed, such as location, obstacles and costs

Try to reach as many people as possible with your petition. Communicate with the owner/manager of a local skateshop, maybe other places where you frequent, and leave the petition there to be signed. Take the petition with you to school, give it to your parents and friends to take to work. Conduct a campaign to promote your initiative. Put up posters, distribute flyers informing people about your plans, the places where the petition can be signed, and the place and time of organizational meetings. You can also set up a website for this purpose, for example, in cooperation with some portal or on FB. Put the petition on the Internet.
